ITINERARY

TRAVEL TO KHARKHORIN

Our adventure starts today from UB city to the ancient capital city of the Great Mongolian Empire which is now Kharkhorin city. This was the most important place of all Mongolians in 13th century has now appearance of a town. However, the town has still a lot left to show how it was in old time. On the ruin of the city, the Erdenezuu monastery was established in 16th century which was the biggest buddist monastery during that time. We will visit the restored, active monastery Erdenezuu surrounded by 108 stupas and get to know history of our religion from some museums.

HIKING TO TUVKHUN MONASTERY 

Today we will leave the ancient capital city of the Great Mongolian Empire dated back to the 13th century to another historical area. We will spend a few hour to get the Shireet Ulaan mountain which has a mystical, legendary and very beautiful Tuvkhun monastery on its top. After having lunch in the mountain,we will do hiking to the mystical monastery surrounded by deep forests elevated in 2300 meters above sea level. In 1651, the first religious statesman Zanabazar built a small stony building. mountain through the deep green forest. The path goes through the trees and colorful wild flowers, smell of which will make your lungs more clean. We will spend 2-3 hours for the hiking. After coming down from the mountain, we will meet our horseman and horses. After hiking in the deep forest, it will be great to rest in the nature.

HORSE TREKKING THROUGH THE ORKHON VALLEY 

Trekking day-1

After having good sleep at the bottom of the mountain, our horsetrekking will start.this morning. Today we will trek to the Orkhon valley which was inscribed by UNESCO in the World Heritage List as representing the development of nomadic pastoral traditions spanning more than two millennia. For many centuries, the Orkhon Valley was viewed as the seat of the imperial power of the steppes. In these modern days, there are many nomadic families living happily herding their animals there.  On the way, there will be lunch stop by the bank of beautiful Orkhon river. At the end of our first horse trekking day, we will visit nomadic family to get to know of our culture more.

HORSETREKKING IN ORKHON VALLEY 

Trekking day -2

Today we will continue our horsetrekking. On the way, we will see a beautiful waterfall, which is one of the best sights in the Central Mongolia. About 250m downstream from the waterfall, you can walk down to the bottom of the gorge; it is 22m deep and dotted with pine trees. At the bottom, you can relax by hearing the sound of strong stream of the waterfall. Today we will trek through the Orkhon valley while enjoying the nature around. 

HORSETREKKING TO THE BUGAT LAKE

Trekking day -3

We will start our horse trekking around the 8 lakes area, spend 2 days to get to the biggest lake Shireet. The area is mountainous and untouched. We will ride sometimes in the forest and most of the times on beautiful steppe with many kinds of wild flowers. In the late afternoon of the 2nd day, we will get  the Shireet Lake which is spectacular and biggest of the 8 lakes. You can relax and enjoy  the lake.

 

 

 

HORSETREKKING DAYS TO EXPLORE THE 8 LAKES AREA

We will start our horse trekking to the 8 lakes area and spend 2 days to get to the biggest lake Shireet. The area is mountainous and untouched. We will ride sometimes in the forest and most of the times on beautiful steppe with many kinds of wild flowers. In the late afternoon of the 2nd day, we will get  the Shireet Lake which is spectacular and biggest of the 8 lakes. You can relax and enjoy the lake.

 

 

 

TRAVEL TO KHUGNU KHAAN NATIONAL PARK

Today  we will start our adventure travelling to a famous national park, Khugnu Khaan, a picturesque area with historical sites and beautiful sand dunes. The area also called Mongol Els has mystical ruins of temples well known among the history of Mongolian Religion. After taking a rest and get refreshed at the ger camp for a while, we will see beautiful scenery while hiking to the ruins of the Uvgun monastery in the late afternoon after visiting an active temple, Erdene Khamba.  After hearty dinner, you can take a walk around the sand dunes and enjoy beautiful sun setting.

 

TRAVEL TO KHUSTAI NATIONAL PARK

After hearty breakfast, it is great to ride camels around the sand dunes for 1-2 hours. Then we will continue our adventure to  Khustai National Park for about 260 km on the asphalt road which is a fine example of the wide river valleys separated by hilly terrain that characterize forest steppe. There are dozens of wild animals such as wolves, deer, and specially Przewalski horse which was reintroduced in 1990 with a cooperation of the Foundation Reserves for the Przewalski Horse and the support of Dutch Government. When we get there, we will explore the area to see the wild horses as close as we can.  It will be great to see the wild animals in the nature. 

 

 

 

TRAVEL BACK TO ULAANBAATAR CITY 

Spent the morning in the national park, we will head back to Ulaanbaatar city. When we get back to the city, we will have farewell dinner and take you to the hotel.
